With Facile.it, we said ‘STOP THE SCAMS’

Continuing to accredit Facile.it as a reference point for choosing the best rates and as an opinion leader in the market to defend consumers, even regarding scams in the electricity and gas sector. To meet this need, we investigated the phenomenon of scams in the electricity and gas sector, by providing a concrete response with the STOP THE SCAMS campaign. A portal within the Facile.it website, with video tutorials, podcasts, and guides where consumers can acquire effective methods to protect themselves from fraud and report it.

Challenge

As bills continue to rise, consumers are increasingly seeking ways to save money, but they may also become targets of fraud, which is a growing concern. Recognizing this trend, we have partnered with Facile.it to enhance its position as a market influencer, a consumer advocate, and a trusted source for securely comparing electricity and gas offers. This led to the launch of the "STOP THE SCAMS" initiative, providing a safe, virtual, and user-friendly platform where individuals can report potential frauds and learn effective methods to protect themselves.

With a Research Institute, we uncovered an alarming situation: in 2022, a staggering 4 million Italians were victims of fraud or attempted fraud in the electricity and gas sector, resulting in approximately €1.2 billion in damages. The phenomenon is so significant that the research was presented at an institutional conference at the Chamber of Deputies. Alongside the Non-Profit Consumerism Association, in addition to the research, a concrete initiative has been launched: STOP THE SCAMS. The media activity has had an impressive impact, sparking debate and contributing to the national success of the campaign.
